| This was a dream come true! My Mother told me before she took her blanket up and made her final journey home to be with the ancestors, to follow my dreams and to do what I wanted to do with the remainder of my life here on mother earth. In her words life is too short. I prayed about this, and then a door opened in my life, and I walked in. I started out with two small boxes of crafts in a small area of another store, the space in which I found myself, was also shared with another business. The very first weekend I was sold out of all my crafts. This told me I was wanted and needed. I have been told from most of my customers that they are so glad I opened, that this gives them a unique store to shop from, one of quality they can see, feel, and that they love. I believe that one of the greatest aspects of this store is that it is a Native American Indian Owned store. Folks like coming into the trading post and knowing full well that when they leave, they can rest assured that they have bought products that are genuine, and of the highest quality Native Craftsmanship that has been handed down generation after generation by our ancestors. My Genealogy benefits the trading post because my clients know they can get lessons in the Native American arts and crafts with the same attention to detail and quality as was handed down to me. Lessons include playing the Native American Flute, basket weaving, beading, and so much more. Continuing to teach the traditions of my ancestors is a wonderful way for me to honor them while educating a whole new generation. The store is growing; I pray and trust the ancestors and the Great Spirit to lead me. I LIKE TO CONSIDER THE GREAT SPIRIT AS MY CHIEF AND THE ANCESTORS AS MY COUNCIL!!! THEY LEAD ME AND SMILE ON ME AS I CONTINUE TO MAKE THEM SHINE. |
